Tom Mudie applied for and was approved to begin a mortgage modification program through Bank of America. His payment was lowered by $200 and all he only needed to make three months worth of payments on time.

But in month two, a telephone keypad error booted him out of the program over 80 cents. When he called in to make a payment over the phone, he typed in his mortgage payment incorrectly, entering $615.02 instead of $615.82. This mistake broke his repayment contract and kicked him out of the system. After contacting customer service, he mailed in a check for the balance and was told it would be ok.

Not the case. The next month, the letter arrived…

Moral of the story? Careful with the keypad!
